Released in 1975, âPour Down Like Silverâ also known as âThe Sufi albumâ due to Richardâs recent conversion to Islam, is a more restrained and spartan album compared to its lusher sounding predecessors. âHard Luck Storiesâ is probably the most musically upbeat song on the album and wouldnât have sounded out of place on the previous two albums.
The album contains some of Richardâs most beautiful songs including ââFor Shame Of Doing Wrongââ, ââBeat The Retreatââ and, particularly, ââDimming Of The Dayââ which segues into a beautiful solo guitar performance of Scots composer James Scott Skinnerâs âDargaiâ bringing the album to a fittingly contemplative conclusion.
