Iconic Swedish musician and producer Peter TĂ€gtgren, who has worked with genre titans like Sabaton, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, Celtic Frost in the past, launched PAIN in 1996 as a side project combining electronic with heavy music and try out different soundscapes than his death metal group Hypocrisy would allow for. Being a masterful songwriter, TĂ€gtgren quickly developed PAIN further, releasing eight albums until 2016 featuring multimillion streamed tracks like âShut Your Mouthâ, âSame Old Songâ, âFollow Meâ, âZombie Slamâ, âEnd Of The Lineâ and succeeding in a gold award for 2002âs âNothing Remains The Sameâ in their home country and over 30 chart entries worldwide. Renowned as a stunning live band, through the past decades PAINâs ingenious mix of catchy hooks, dark, tongue in cheek humour, elements from synth/wave, electro, pop, metal and rock stood the test of time by being addictive, danceable, defiant, unique. In 2021, PAIN dropped smash hit âParty In My Headâ (45M+ streams, 9M+ views), hit the road and built excitement for their much-lauded ninth album âI Amâ, released on May 17th, 2024.
The buzz around the band boosted demand for their early classics, which had been out of print for years and never available on vinyl. After Nuclear Blast Records properly reissued âNothing Remains The Sameâ (2002) and âDancing With The Deadâ (2005) last year with all audio remastered by Jonas Kjellgren at Black Lounge Studios, now the debut âPainâ (1996), its successor âRebirthâ (1999), and fifth album âPsalms Of Extinctionâ (2007) get the same treatment inviting PAINheads, new and old, to experience these milestones in their definitive editions out on May 15th, 2026.
